As a former director emeritus and the unofficial “first lady” of TMF, Moores set a standard for leadership at TMF. In honor of her contributions, TMF is launching the Gloria J. Moores Society to acknowledge the generous gifts received from individuals and families that support TMF.

The Gloria J. Moores Society honors those individuals that have included TMF in their estate plans or have contributed more than $25,000 to TMF’s endowment.

Gloria J. Moores

Gloria was born in Texarkana, TX on July 23, 1922. Moores retired as the Executive Vice President of Operations from State First National Bank, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Texarkana and an active lay leader in the Texas Conference. This combination of professional and spiritual experiences made her an ideal Board member and eventually the first woman to serve TMF as Board Chair in 1992-’93.

As Moores’ relationship with TMF grew so too did her appreciation for our mission and her desire to see our ministries thrive after her lifetime. Moores leveraged multiple planned giving vehicles to implement her charitable vision for TMF. By establishing a charitable gift annuity with TMF, Moores was able to generate lifetime income for herself and create an endowment to benefit the Institute for Clergy and Congregational Excellence, now Leadership Ministry. Moores deepened her philanthropic commitment to TMF through the use of trusts and a bequest, each of which left a remainderment to TMF’s undesignated endowment, which strengthens TMF’s ability to partner financially with Methodist churches in New Mexico and Texas. In honor of Moores exemplary leadership and philanthropy, TMF is privileged to announce the formation of the Gloria J. Moores Society.

If you have questions about whether you are already eligible to be a member of the Society or would like to discuss your intent to support TMF through an estate gift, please contact Sally Richard at 512-583-1940 or by email at SRichard@tmf-fdn.org.
